What is an IEP?

IEP stands for Individualized Education Program or Plan. This is a legally binding document that spells out exactly what special education services your child will receive and why. It will include your child's classification, placement, services, goals, percentage of time in regular education, and progress reports from teachers and therapists. The IEP is planned  and developed at an IEP meeting.

What is a 504 Plan?

A 504 Plan is a document that is developed for an individual student who has been identified as having a disability, but does not require specialized instruction from a special education teacher to make adequate yearly progress. The 504 Plan documents the specific accessibility requirements needed to assure that the student will receive equal access to public education and services. 504 Plans are developed at 504 Meetings and Student Success Team (SST) Meetings.
